What is BJJ?

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is a martial art which utilises close range grappling techniques and takedowns to obtain a superior position on an opponent with the goal of finishing the fight using a submission (joint lock or choke).

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is excellent for self-defense, fitness or as a hobby. It is also a necessity for any modern MMA fighter and beyond that it is also a sport in itself with numerous national, European and Worldwide competitions.

The first thing you will notice about our classes is the relaxed and friendly atmosphere. We take the attitude that people can get a good workout, learn new skills and enjoy themselves whilst doing it. Whether you are a complete novice or an experienced martial artist there is a class which is suitable for you.

Each technique will be broken down and explained in detail so it really doesn't matter if you've never done a martial art before. In fact, you will be suprised just how quickly you will start to get the hang of it!

Don't make the mistake of thinking you've got to be big and strong to do BJJ - it relies on technique, leverage and body movement, so it really is suitable for all shapes and sizes.
